Thanks to Tricia for reviewing.
Janet Fraiser, all five feet two inches of natural Janet augmented by several
odd inches of distinctly non-regulation heels, was bristling, much like a stray
cat face to face with a barking dog. General Hank Landry, Major General, the
new CO of Stargate Command had decided to override her medical decision that Lt.
Colonel Cameron Mitchell was currently unfit for duty. Yes, he had two stars on
his shoulders, and she had none, but she was one mean Mama Bear determined to
protect her personnel from being injured due to their own stupidity.
Hammond had been a quick study.
Only one session with her and he was the proverbial Texas Gentleman, always
deferring to her decision on whether or not one of his... no... their... personnel was
fit for Gate Travel.
O'Neill, he had been a challenge, intent on pushing her too far, but not far
enough for her to bite. It had taken more than a few one on one sessions before
he willingly capitulated to her advice. His surrender had been sweet indeed and
she had savored her victory.
"Doctor," Landry questioned. His bushy eyebrows appeared distinctly amused. "Are
we still discussing the fact that I overrode your decision allowing Colonel
Mitchell to join SG1 in the field? The matter is no longer open for debate. "
Janet gave him a wicked smile before she pounced.
"I was reviewing your chart," she said sweetly. "And I noticed that you are
overdue for your physical, General. You've also managed to neglect several
important screenings for a man your age."
"Are you threatening me, Doctor?" Landry retorted in a very gruff voice.
Ha! He was trying to bluff her, and scare her. Hammond had blustered at first
until Hammond had realized that she meant business. Amazing how quickly
George had quieted down when she politely told him to shut up and drop 'em.
No matter how many
stars a General had, they immediately became docile little boys
when they were
wearing a patient robe.
She crooked one perfectly manicured finger at him, trying not to laugh when
Landry's eyebrows suddenly drooped, much like a dejected hound dog that had lost
the scent of a prey. A thrill of delight went through her when she realized that
Landry's eyes were focused firmly on her finger. He was quick, like Hammond had been,
to realize that he had lost control of the situation. George had turned several shades
of red immediately while Landry was still vainly attempting to hold onto some tattered
shreds of dignity.
It wasn't like she had hurt George... in fact far from it. He had no complaints. Hell, he
hadn't missed an exam since then.
Even Jack had come back for more.
"I'll expect you in my office in five minutes," Janet continued. "Don't worry,
General. I've been told that I have a gentle touch."
